Family: Psittaculidae
Description
Old World Parrots. Most are very colourful and are often kept in captivity. Therefore some species are threatened by pet trade or even at the brink of extinction. In Australia the number of species is the highest, but they are also found in tropical Africa and South-east Asia.
Taxonomy
Psittaculidae is a Family in the Order Psittaciformes.
It was formerly included in the family Psittacidae.
