- Mantle either red or red with a yellow patch (depending on subspecies)
- Wings green
- Wing bend and under wing coverts yellow
- Tail red with green tip
- Belly orange
- Cere grey

- Bill orange
- Feet grey
Juvenile: Bill and iris dark
Distribution
South-east Asia: found in North Maluku, Indonesia.
Taxonomy
Subspecies[1]
There are 3 subspecies:
- L. g. morotaianus:
- Northern Moluccas (Morotai and Rau)
- L. g. garrulus:
- Northern Moluccas (Halmahera, Widi and Ternate)
- L. g. flavopalliatus:
- Northern Moluccas (Kasiruta, Bacan, Obi and Mandiole)
Habitat
Mangrove forests.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes nectar, insects, buds and seeds.
Breeding
They nests in hole in tall trees; 2 eggs are laid.
