Black-collared Lovebird - BirdForum Opus

Identification

13.5cm.

  • Plumage generally green
  • Black ring at the nape
  • Browny-red chest
  • Grey-black bill
  • Yellow iris
  • Grey feet
  • Blue upper tail feathers

Sexes are similar
Juveniles lack the black nape collar.

Distribution

Africa
Western Africa: Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo
Eastern Africa: Uganda

Forest canopy.

Behaviour

A major part of their diet is the seeds and flesh of the native fig.
