Similar species
Similar to the larger Slaty-headed Parakeet which has a darker head, lighter underparts and a shorter tail.
Distribution
Asia: found from northern India (western Bengal), Myanmar to southern China, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Open mixed dry dipterocarp deciduous forest, teak forest, secondary growth, cultivation and tea plantations.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of leaf buds and cherries, flowers and bamboo seeds.
