Identification

33–43 cm

  • Large red bill
  • Green head, nape and mantle
  • Bluish back and rump

Distribution

South-east Asia: found in Philippines, Indonesia, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Lesser Sundas, West Timor, Moluccas, Timor, East Timor
Australasia: Papua New Guinea

  • Babar and Tanimbar Islands (Yamdena and Larat)

Habitat

Lowland evergreen forests.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists mostly of fruit, particularly mangrove apple; also Java nut and casuarina.
