This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 2 subspecies.
Subspecies
- C. p. rothschildi:
- Cyclops Mountains and montane slopes above Idenburg River
- C. p. pulchella:
- Montane forests of New Guinea
An additional subspecies bella is generally considered to be invalid[2].
