- Green upperparts
- Bright red underparts
- Bright red face, throat breast and belly
- Purple crown and lower abdomen

Sexes similar. Females have a paler crown.
Distribution
Endemic to the Fiji Islands
Coastal lowland forests of Fiji Islands
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Rainforest. Likes flowering trees, partciularly the Umbrella Tree.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes fruit, seeds, nectar and blossoms.
Breeding
They nest in tree hollows. The 2 eggs are incubated for 30 days. The young fledge after about 9 weeks.
