Identification
Predominantly green along the back, with two-tone blue on the shoulder; also a blue face. Chest and abdomen of the bird is yellow with the possibility of an orange hint to the chest. Males have a red patch on the shoulder that is not shared by females or juveniles

Endemic to Australia.

Habitat
Inhabits woodland, open forest, and timbered grassland, where it favors the edges of woodlands adjoining grassland or timbered creeklines or redges. Roosts and breeds in woodland
Behaviour
Food: Granivorous, feeding on seeds gathered on open ground.
