Distribution
Southeast Asia: found in Indochina, Malaysia, Philippines, Borneo, Indonesia, Greater Sundas and Sulawesi.

There are 4 subspecies:

- Northern Philippines (Luzon and Mindoro)
- T. l. hybridus:
- Polillo (northern Philippines)
- T. l. salvadorii:
- Southern Philippines, Sulu Archipelago and islands off north Borneo
- T. l. talautensis:
- Talaud Islands (northern Moluccas)
Habitat
Secondary forests to scattered trees up to 1000m, coconut plantations, banana patches and mangroves.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes berries, seeds, nuts and grain.
Breeding
They nest in tree holes.
