Identification

Dark red body
Purple-blue cheeks, chin, and ear-coverts
Purple-blue abdomen and undertail coverts
Black streaked wings
Orange bill (pink in juvenile)
Red-brown tail
Orange/red eye

Distribution

South-east Asia: found in the montane forests of Seram (southern Moluccas)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species^[1].

Habitat

Trees 1600-2400m.

Behaviour

The diet includes flowers.
