Family: Turdidae
Description
Thrushes and allies.
Taxonomy
Turdidae is a family in the Order Passeriformes.
The 2011 Clements update brought some changes to this family. Some genera were moved from here to the Muscicapidae (Alethe, Chamaetylas, Brachypteryx, Myophonus and Monticola) and the genus Cochoa was moved from the Old World Flycatchers to here.
The genera Neocossyphus and Pseudocossyphus are also sometimes also placed within the Old World Flycatchers Muscicapidae. Furthermore the taxonomic placement of Geomalia is not clear. This species may well not be a Thrush at all and is sometimes placed within the Babblers Timaliidae.
