27cm. Black scaling on a paler white or yellow background, black band on white underwings, visible in flight.

Sri Lanka Thrush, Nilgiri Thrush, White's Thrush and Amami Thrush have been included in this species.

Wet coniferous woodland.
Behaviour
Breeding
They build their cup shaped nests in trees, and 3-4 dull green eggs are laid.
