Puaiohi - BirdForum Opus

Myadestes palmeri

Identification

It is also known as the Palmer's thrush.

7 inches in length. The male and female are similar. Dark brown upper parts and grey below with pink legs. The eye ring is pale.

The call is a harsh sher, delivered in short bursts. This bird is classified as Critically Endangered due to having a small population in an extremely small range

Distribution

Endemic to Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands.

Behaviour

It feeds mainly on fruits and insects. It lays 2-3 pale green-blue eggs with red-brown splotches. Its nests on cliffs.
