Family: Alaudidae
Description
Larks.
Taxonomy
Alaudidae is a family in the order Passeriformes.
Larks have some anatomical features that separate them from other Passerines; for this reason they were once thought to be fairly primitive Passerines, and were placed at the base of the Oscine sequence. Genetic evidence now places the Larks at the base of the Sylvioidea.
