Identification

16cm.

  • Dull brown with streaks anove
  • White or cream below
  • Rufous crown
  • White stripe above eye
  • Dark brown stripe through eye
  • Breast has rufous streaks
  • Dark brown iris
  • Pale horn bill
  • Pink brown legs

Distribution

Africa: found in eastern Ethiopia and Somalia

Taxonomy

Subspecies

Two to three subspecies recognized:

degodi is not recognized by Clements. It was was formerly considered to be a full species, Degodi Lark. However, recent research (Collar et al., 2009) reported in this thread showed that the Degodi Lark and Gillett's Lark are conspecific.

Habitat

Grassy areas in semi-arid savanna and woodland.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes caterpillars and grasshoppers, and it is a ground feeder.

Breeding

Monogomous.
