Identification

14 cm

  • Grey-brown upperparts
  • Pale edging to mantle feathers
  • Buff underparts with brownish streaks
  • Paler on belly and vent
  • Slight crest
  • Buff eyebrow-stripe

Distribution

Eastern Africa: endemic to coastal southern Somalia

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Dry lowland grassland, semi-arid coastal plains with a few small scattered bushes. Short grassland where dunes have been stabilised.

Behaviour

Diet

A ground feeder, but little is know about their diet.
