Family: Cracidae
Description
A family of large birds, of a morph resembling turkeys, of the tropical and subtropical zones of Central and South America north to extreme southern Texas in the U.S.. Chachalacas, guans and curassows comprise the family Cracidae. Guans and curassows live in trees, but the smaller chachalacas prefer open, scrubby environments. The diet is fruit, insects and worms. They nest in trees.

Cracidae is a family in the order Galliformes.
The cracids are believed to be most closely related to the moundbuilders (Megapodiidae) of the Australasian region.
