50–61 cm (19¾-24 in)

  • Dark rufous back
  • Olive-brown breast
  • Chestnut-tipped rectrices


Northern South America: found only in Colombia and Venezuela.



There are 3 subspecies[1]:

  • P. a. albicauda :
  • P. a. colombiana:
  • Santa Marta Mountains (north-eastern Colombia)
  • P. a. argyrotis:


They have a preference for dense, wet, virgin forests in subtropical and tropical areas.


Their diet consists mostly of fleshy fruits
