Scotland is the northernmost part of the United Kingdom, coverin approximately 40'000 km2. It's a country of varied landscapes: 10'800km of mostly rocky coastline, mountain ranges, moorland, lowland vales and hills.
Over 450 species of birds have been recorded in Scotland and about 175 species regularly breed. Some of the interesting breeding species are White-tailed Eagle, Golden Eagle, Osprey, Crested Tit, Scottish Crossbill, Parrot Crossbill, Red Grouse, Capercaillie, Black Grouse and some species of Waders.
Many species migrate through Scotland, particularly Waders and Waterfowl.
