Red-throated Diver may be seen on the lochs approaching Dunnet Head, along with the usual freshwater species such as Grey Heron, Mute Swan, Mallard, Little Grebe, Moorhen. And on the moors Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Oystercatcher and Northern Wheatear. House Sparrow and finches such as Chaffinch, Gold and Greenfinch are commonly seen around the scattered crofts.
