Overview
This is an area of heather moorland in the south of the hilly Orkney island of Rousay and lies above Trumland House.
The moors also contain a small lochan, some inland crags and several small valleys.
Birds
Notable Species
Red-throated Diver breeds on the lochan while Hen Harrier, Common Kestrel and Eurasian Golden Plover nest on the moors as well as four species of gull. Merlin, skuas and Short-eared Owl are usually present. Eynhallow Sound, between Rousay and mainland Orkney is a wintering site for Great Northern Diver and seaducks.
Other Wildlife
Orkney Vole is common on the reserve and Otters are occasional visitors.

Rousay can be reached by passenger ferry from Tingwall on Mainland Orkney. Visitors are requested to contact the RSPB warden at Trumland Mill Cottage between April and August who will then escort them around the reserve.
