Description

Around twenty species of kingfisher from Asia and Oceania.

Taxonomy

Todiramphus is a genus in the family Alcedinidae.

The Sibley-Monroe (1993) spelling of the scientific name (Todirhamphus) is incorrect. Clements (2007), Howard & Moore, Dickinson (2003) and Gill & Wright (2008) all use Todiramphus. More details in this discussion.
