Identification

22 cm. Buff triangle on upper back. White crown, forehead, mantle and centre of upper back. Blue eye-stripe. White underparts. Blue-green lower back, rump, tail and wings. Voice: treet-tee-tee

Distribution

Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia

Taxonomy

This species is monotypic.

Habitat

Dense, humid forest near the courses of mountain streams.

Status

Classified as Endangered in the 2008 IUCN Red List.1

Behaviour

It makes its nests in old trees.

Diet includes insects and lizards.
