Overview
This site is one of the most important in Corsica for the endemic nuthatch and the island's races of more widespread species. It consists of deep gorges with native coniferous woodland and sclerophyllous scrub as well as grasslands, bare cliff-faces and mountain lakes.
Birds
Notable Species
Both endemic species (the Corsican Nuthatch and Corsican Finch) can be found with relative ease in this area as well as the Corsican races of Eurasian Sparrowhawk, Eurasian Goshawk and Common Buzzard, Common Wren and Spotted Flycatcher.
However, of almost equal attraction for birders is Lammergeier for which this valley is one of the best sites on the island and other montane species including Wallcreeper and Alpine Chough which also occur here. Golden Eagle and Red Kite are among the other raptors frequently seen.
