Overview
A somewhat rural suburban town, located at least 60 miles north of New York City. It is a village of the Town of East Fishkill, and lies 5 minutes from the Dutchess County border with Putnam County.

Notable Species
Although there are no Nature Conservancy parks and the like, the amount of birds in this town exceeds 50 species. You will find all sorts of birds, ranging from the elusive Great Blue Heron to the colorful Green Heron, and from the majestic Pileated Woodpecker to the American Goldfinch.

There's a lot more birds here than the following list shows. In fact we may have well over 300 species residing here either seasonally or year-round.

This town is also located 20-25 minutes from the Hudson River, where the following birds were spotted. Common Merganser, Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagle, Mallard, Ring-billed Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Bonaparte's Gull
There are reports of Northern Saw-whet Owl living in the area, but they're winter specialties here.

Good state parks in the area for general birding and sightseeing are White Pond (5 minutes from my place), Big Buck (also 5 minutes), Stissing Mountain (1 hour), Bashakill Marsh (1 hour), Ninham Mountain (30 minutes), and more that I haven't visited yet.
