Genus: Euphonia
Description
Colors are typically dark metallic blue above and bright yellow or orange below. They are closely related to the Chlorophonias, but the latter have bright green coloration. Bills are stubby, with strongly curved culmens.
Taxonomy
Euphonia is a genus of Neotropical birds in the finch (Fringillidae) family. Once considered tanagers due to similar coloration and habits to members of that family.
