Overview

The town of Porto Colom is built around the northern and western sides of a large natural harbour bounded to the east by a scrub-covered peninsula.

There are open fields at the base of the peninsula that are good for Thekla Lark but the further towards the lighthouse has Sardinian Warbler and Balearic Warbler, Stonechat and Stone-curlew. Nightingale and Eurasian Scops Owl are commonly heard at night.

Access and Facilities

Porto Colom is easily reached by road from the north of Mallorca, where most birding visitors are based, via Petra and Felanitx. An alternative is to stay in Porto Colom itself.

On arrival in the town turn left at the harbour and follow the road around the top end of the harbour. The road continues to the lighthouse or there is a track across the peninsula through fields.
