Overview

The Jardin Canario is one of the largest and finest gardens in Europe and harbours the best collection of Canarian plants in the world. It is set in the Guinguada Valley at Tafira on Gran Canaria and is a must visit for anyone who visits the island and is interested in nature.

All the Canarian ecosystems are represented at the gardens, including the laurel forest, coastal euphorbia scrubland and the pine forests. There is also an impressive collection of cactus and palms and most of the 650-odd endemic Canarian plants are grown, inluding most of the aeoniums, echiums and the recently discovered Gran Canary dragon tree.

For birders, the garden is something of a haven and almost all the species present on the island, as well as a long list of migrants, have been seen there over the years.
