Family: Eupetidae
Description
Rail-babbler
Taxonomy
Eupetidae is a family in the Order Passeriformes.
The family and its members have a long taxonomic history in several different families. Most were placed within the Babblers in the past.
Due to molecular evidence some genera have been moved to their own families:
- Cinclosoma and Ptilorrhoa in Cinclosomatidae
- Psophodes and Androphobus in Psophodidae
The placement of Ifrita is still debated. Clements now places this species in the family Monarchidae and the Opus follows.
The two Melampittas of the genus Melampitta are sometimes included in this family.
