Genus: Asthenes

Description

The name Canastero mean basket-weaver because the nests of these birds do remind of a basket. These Ovenbirds tend to run around with relatively long tails raised vertically.

Taxonomy

Asthenes is a genus in the Family Furnariidae.

Four species were moved from this genus to the genus Pseudasthenes in 2010.[1][2]
