- Asthenes flammulata
Identification
Head blackish brown with tawny streaking on crown, darker streaking on mantle. Narrow pale buff on superciliary. Wings rufous, tail dark brown and sharply pointed with rufous edges. Orange-buff chin patch and whitish underparts streaked with dusky brown.

Habitat
Common in grassy and shrubby paramo in highlands.
Behaviour
Hops around on or near ground, often hiding behind tall grass. Lifts tail frequently. Will perch in the open, for extended periods at times.
