Distribution

South America: endemic to Peru.

Taxonomy

Subspecies[1]

There are 2 subspecies:

  • A. u. huallagae:
  • Andes of northern Peru (La Libertad to Huánuco and Pasco)
  • A. u. urubambensis:
  • Andes of south-eastern Peru (Cuzco) to northern Bolivia (La Paz and Cochabamba)

Habitat

Polylepis woodland, mountains to 3900 m.
