Overview
Sandy Hook is a peninsula that projects northward into Raritan Bay at the northern-most point of the New Jersey coast. An important birding location in both spring and fall.

There is a Butterfly Garden adjacent to the Observatory. Amongst the many species recorded are Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Spicebush Swallowtail, Question Mark, American Lady. 1
