Genus: Myiophobus
Description
Taxonomy
Myiophobus is a genus in the family Tyrannidae. It has recently been demonstrated that this genus is not a natural unit, and a new genus name Nephelomyias have been proposed for the three species pulcher, lintoni and ochraceiventris. The species flavicans, phoenicomitra, inornatus and roraimae likewise do not belong in Myiophobus, but a new genus name has not yet been proposed. Eventually, the expectations are that only M. fasciatus (this species may also be split in two) and M. cryptoxanthus will continue to stay in Myiophobus.
Clements (2010) and Gill and Donsker (2010) have recognised the genus Nephelomyias, but did not make any other changes to Myiophobus.
