• Andes of Colombia to Ecuador and Peru (north of Río Marañón)

• M. f. perijanus:

• North-western Venezuela (Sierra de Perijá and Páramo de Tamá)

• M. f. venezuelanus:

• Mountains of northern Venezuela (Táchira to Distrito Federal and Miranda)

• M. f. caripensis:

• Coastal cordillera of north-eastern Venezuela (Monagas and Sucre)

• M. f. superciliosus:

• Central Andes of Peru (southern Amazonas to Cuzco)
