Identification
Similar to the non-overlapping Ochraceous-breasted Flycatcher but throat whitish, wing bars darker and more cinnamon, eye pale and lower mandible orange. Overall the face looks very open on this species.
Similar species
The only member of its genus that has pale yellow eyes.
Distribution
Ecuador and Peru to the Rio Marañón.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species1.
Formerly placed in genus Myiophobus.
Habitat
Moist montanes.
Behaviour
Fourages from top of large leaves taking insects both from other leaves and in flight.
