Family: Eurylaimidae
Description
Broadbills are thickset birds with a broad head, a broad, flat, hooked bill with a wide gape and large eyes. Most species have strikingly patterned plumages with many colours. They are found from the Himalayas to southeast Asia, with one species in Africa.
Sexual dichromatism is only slight or absent.
Most species feed on insects.
Taxonomy
Eurylaimidae is a family in the order Passeriformes.
Two families, Calyptomenidae (includes genera Smithornis and Calyptomena) and Sapayoidae (Sapayoa) have been split from this family.
