History and Use

This area has had an influence on the region's history since the 11th century when the Duchy of Lithuania was formed here. During the intervening years, it has come under the sphere of influence and/or control of other groups, nations, and people before arriving at what it is today[3].

Areas of Interest

Lithuania has a number of National Parks[4], of which this one was their first. It has, within its boundaries, a multitude of waterways and islands which can lend themselves to some great birding. As well, there are buildings and villages dating back to much earlier times.
