Overview
A small area of primeval forest in central Finland where the dominant tree species are spruce and pine and some specimens may be up to 500 years old.
Situated where the wetter, flatter land of the west meets the hilly country of central Finland, the few open areas in this park are the edges of swamps and small woodland pools.
Birds
Notable Species
The area is rich in typical Scandinavian woodland birds such as Goshawk, three species of grouse and Siberian Jay.
Woodpeckers include Black Woodpecker and Three-toed Woodpecker and owls include Ural Owl, Pygmy Owl and Tengmalm's Owl.
Common Crane is present during the breeding season.
