Genus: Alcippe, Fulvettas
Description
A group of small Babblers, also called Tit-Babblers as the look superficially similar to tits.
Taxonomy
Alcippe is a genus in the Family Timaliidae.
This genus has recently been split into five genera with the reorganisation of the Timaliidae:
- Lioparus with one species
- Fulvetta with five to eight species
- Alcippe with six to seven remaining species
- Schoeniparus with three species
- Pseudominla with four species
Especially Fulvetta seems to be very closely related to the Orld World Warblers.
In the Opus we follow the older treatement and place all Fulvettas in this genus. If the new treatement is used the genus Alcippe would contain the following species:
- Brown Fulvetta
- Brown-cheeked Fulvetta
- Grey-cheeked Fulvetta
- Javan Fulvetta
- Mountain Fulvetta
- Black-browed Fulvetta (split from Mountain)
- Nepal Fulvetta
