Identification
14.5 - 15cm. A dull chestnut and buff fulvetta.
- Chestnut-brown crown and back
- Very faint darker lateral crownstripes from above lores to nape
- Rufous-chestnut on rump and uppertail-coverts, upperwing-coverts and wing fringes
- Deep warm brown tail with dark rufescent-chestnut outer fringes
Distribution
Endemic to west and central Java, Indonesia. Restricted-range species, but common in its range.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Has been treated as subspecies of Brown-cheeked Fulvetta.
Habitat
Broadleaf evergreen submontane to montane forest. Found at 1000m to 1830m.
Behaviour
Usually seen in small groups, sometimes in mixed feeding flocks with other species.
Diet
Feeds on insects.
Breeding
Breeding season all year except September. The nest is a loos cup fixed in a horizontal fork, close to the ground. Lays 2 eggs.
