Identification

Mottled brown duck with white and green flashes on its wings. Sexes similar.

Distribution

Endemic to the Andaman Islands.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Was formerly treated as a subspecies of Sunda Teal.

Habitat

Open wetlands, freshwater lakes and marshes.

Behaviour

It nests on the ground, in tree holes or rabbit burrows.
