United States, Mexico to Costa Rica.

Scrub and cultivation.

Behaviour

On a cold day (or night) will group together in a pyramid to keep each other warm

Diet

Includes grass seeds.

Breeding

The flimsy twig nest is built 1-8 m high in a tree, often a thorny species, and 2 white eggs are laid.
