Overview
In the far north of the country this park adjoins the Finnish border and the Lemmenjoki National Park.
There are hundreds of lakes in this park which consists mainly of a gently undulating plateau most of which is treeless. A few parts of the park have forest, mainly birch but also some pine but most of this area is open country with low vegetation such as crowberry, bilberry and juniper, and on the wetter ground, cloudberry.
