Family: Dicruridae, Drongos
Description
Smallish to mid-sized arboreal passerines with:
- strong, mid-length, slightly hooked bill
- prominent rictal bristles
- slender body
- long pointed wings
- short legs
- strong feet
- long forked tail
- most species have black, patchily iridescent plumage.
They are found in Africa, Asia and Australia.
Taxonomy
Dicruridae is a family in the Order Passeriformes.
Chaetorhynchus was formerly placed here but has now been moved to the fantails.
