Identification

13·5 cm (5¼ in). Adult has long broad pale buff supercilium bordered above by prominent black lateral crown-stripe, warm olive-brown crown and upperparts with slightly more rufescent rump and whitish underparts with warm buff breast-sides and flanks. Brown of plumage paler and more greyish-olive when worn.

Distribution

Asia: found in Russia, Siberia, Mongolia, China, India, Western Himalayas, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Reed beds, riverside scrub and rice fields.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of insects, spiders and beetles.

Movements

Migratory, spending the winter in south and south-eastern Asia.
