Tyresta National Park Sweden


Only recently given national park status, this large forested area lies on the outskirts of Stockholm and is one of the largest intact blocks of coniferous forest in the south of Sweden. There are also mires and lakes.

  Birds include Western Capercaillie, Hazel and Black Grouse, Tengmalm's and Eurasian Pygmy Owls, Black Woodpecker, Spotted Nutcracker and Parrot Crossbill. 
  To reach the park leave Stockholm on Motorway 73 and turn off on the Route 227 at Handen, then head for Tyresta village. The park has marked footpaths.

Black-throated Diver, Northern Goshawk, Eurasian Sparrowhawk, Osprey, Hazel Grouse, Black Grouse, Western Capercaillie, Woodpigeon, Common Cuckoo, Eurasian Pygmy Owl, Tengmalm's Owl, Wryneck, Green Woodpecker, Black Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Wood Lark, Barn Swallow, Common Redstart, Mistle Thrush, Wood Warbler, Willow Warbler, Siberian Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Common Jay, Spotted Nutcracker, Common Crossbill, Parrot Crossbill
