Identification
Three wing bars helps distinguish this species from the similar White-crested Elaenia although the third wing-bar is not always visible depending on wear of feathers and pose. [4]
Distribution
Caribbean and South America:
Caribbean: Netherlands Antilles
South America: Colombia, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and central Argentina.
Breeds south of a line from Bolivia to the Atlantic about 1/5th from the southernmost point of Brazil, and found north of there as a migrant or winter guest. Vagrant in Trinidad and the United States. [3]
