Overview

Parque National Rincón de la Vieja is situated in the province of Guanacaste in north-western Costa Rica. The park area includes an active volcano, with one trail taking visitors up to the crater and another passing several fumaroles. Much of the area is forested, with good primary forest of a rather humid kind, but also including dry forest/scrub, and more grassy savannah.
