- Treron bicinctus
Identification
29cm. Bright green face, back wings and belly, grey rear head and nape, black flight feathers, grey tail. The male has a patch on the breast, bordered above by lilac, and yellower on its lower edge. The female has yellowish green underparts.
Distribution
Himalayas, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Taxonomy
Subspecies[1]
- T. b. bicinctus on the Indian subcontinent and SE Asia
- T. b. leggei in Sri Lanka
- T. b. domvilii on Hainan (s China)
- T. b. javanus in Java and Bali
Habitat
Hill forests and other woodlands.
Behaviour
It builds a stick nest in a tree and lays two white eggs.
The diet includes seeds and fruits of a wide variety of plants.
